Our 3-day excursion from La Paz to Copacabana and Sun Island  is the perfect way to get a sense of how this fascinating part of Bolivia natural and cultural history works.

Three days is just enough time to relax, visit the sites and even have some free time to explore on your own. The trip to Lake Titicaca sets off from La Paz and arrives in Copacabana at lunch time.

After a fresh lake trout lunch on the beach, well take you on a walk around the quiet town of “Copacabana”, visiting the Moorish influenced cathedral, the Horca del Inca ruins and then climbing the Calvario, just in time for the sunset views of the lake. After the walk, you’ll have some free time for handicraft shopping and rest.

Our Program

DEPARTURE: 07 am or 08 am We start in the city of La Paz, where we begin our adventure to Copacabana, which is approximately 3 hours away from La Paz.
Our transportation will be a tourist bus, and after the three-hour journey, we will arrive at a strait (Tiquina Strait) that we will cross by boat towards Copacabana.
After half an hour, we will reach our final destination, where we will enjoy a delicious trout or other fish dish by the shores of the lake, with a beautiful view. Later, we will take a boat to visit the marvelous ISLA DEL SOL.
We will spend the night on Isla del Sol, and the next day, we will visit the southern or northern part of the island, where we will go on a hike before returning to Copacabana and then to La Paz City.

🌞 Day 1 —

Departure to Copacabana

08:00 Hotel pick-up, providing a brief explanation of the route from La Paz to Copacabana (158 km distance).

12:00 Arrival in Copacabana, passing through the Tiquina Strait that divides San Pedro and San Pablo. Popular food is served in the markets.

12:30 Lunch in Copacabana.

13:30 Copacabana – Isla del Sol (by boat).

15:00 Arrival at Isla del Sol.

  • Visit Isla del Sol.
  • Explore the Inca Staircase in Yumani.
  • Visit the Fountain of the Inca (Fountain of Eternal Youth).

17:30 Check-in and accommodation at Hostal las Islas (Double, triple, and quadruple rooms available).

Northen Part & Moon Island
