The Condoriri trek is a popular hiking route in the Andes mountains of Bolivia. It involves trekking around the impressive peaks of the Condoriri mountain range, with stunning views of glacial lakes and towering peaks.
Hiking is always a great way to stay active, explore nature, and challenge oneself physically and mentally. It can be a rewarding experience that allows you to connect with the natural environment and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Acclimatization
One of the key reasons why it is beneficial to do a hike like the Condoriri trek is for acclimatization to high altitudes.
The trek takes you to altitudes above 4,000 meters, which can be challenging for those who are not used to high altitudes.
By gradually ascending and spending time at higher altitudes, you give your body time to acclimatize and adjust to the lower oxygen levels, reducing the risk of altitude sickness.
If you have come to Bolivia dreaming of a short trek though the spectacular, glaciated Andes, this day-hike is for you! Travelers in good physical condition are invited to join South Treks on a day trek to Tuni Condoriri (Pico Austria).
No special equipment is required, just good hiking boots, warm, layered clothing, cream that protects sun rays, wind and rain protection and a passion for high mountain landscapes.
Rewarding Experience!

Full Day 🌞
The Trek Starts
Start Time: 6:00 AM
We Start going to Janchillani is a 1.5 hour journey from La Paz and your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel, get you out of La Paz and El Alto before the traffic turns ugly and take you through the vast Bolivian Altiplano en route to the Royal Range (Cordillera Real).
The Trek Starts
The trek starts at an altitude of 4500m and rises slowly to the beautiful, turquoise Chiar Khota Lake, at the base of enormous glaciated peaks. The trail then begins to rise more steeply (and we begin to slow down!) and after about 2.5 hours we stop for a picnic lunch.
After lunch, we continue on for about 45 minutes more to a 5350 m. viewpoint with spectacular views of the Cordillera and, if conditions are good, Lake Titicaca to the west.
Return
We then return below with an easy (mostly downhill) trek to the auto, about 2.5-3 hours.
