The Acotango (6057m) is a volcano located on the border between Chile and Bolivia in the Western Cordillera. That forms together with the Humarata volcano (5730 m) and the Capurata volcano (5990 m), the Quimsachatas massif that in Aymara means “three twins” of its ascent is easy, but relatively long.
At 8:30 am we leave La Paz towards Sajama through beautiful landscapes of the plateau watching the rivers, canyons of the area, Chullpares (cemeteries) of the Culture of the Aymara manors, fauna of camelids and flora, and thus in 4 hours of travel We arrived at Sajama 4,200m, hostel dinner in the afternoon and rest in Hostel.
After a light breakfast we leave at 02:00 am from Sajama in Jeep 4X4 towards the Quebrada de Condor Jipiña and continue towards Campo Alto 5,300m in an hour and a half, from where we start hiking towards the Acotango summit 6.050m.
In 5 hours, where we have an impressive view of the Western Cordillera, where you can see the lagoons of Chungará, Lagunillas and the beautiful gorges around the imposing snow of Sajama and the beautiful mountains of the Payachatas and then return to the high field where the jeep waits for the group and return to Sajama and after lunch continue with the return to the city of La Paz ..
