Description

Take this 2-day combo tour and visit the stunning Sacred Valley of the Incas on your way to world-famous Machu Picchu.

With bus and train transportation you will travel to these sites past wonderful Andean scenery in comfort and have plenty of time to see the incredible site of Machu Picchu itself.

Day 1 ■Cusco – Pisac – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

Pickup the local office at 8.30 AM approximately and we head towards the village of P’isaq (Písac) on a comfortable tourist bus.

In this colonial village you will have the chance to buy some souvenirs and get lost in the colorful local handmade market before moving up to the archeological site which still preserves the fascinating historical atmosphere of Incan times.

Back on the bus, you will go visit the picturesque villages of Calca and Urubamba where a delicious buffet lunch with traditional dishes is waiting for you (for only 10$). In the afternoon, the tour goes on to Ollantaytambo, where you will visit its unique archaeological site. From Ollantaytambo you will then take a late afternoon train (exact time depends on availability but usually between 6 and 8 PM) to Aguas Calientes arriving about 2 hours later.

When you arrive in Aguas Calientes we will take you to your hostel and you will have the rest of the evening as free time to explore the area or visit the local hot springs.

Day 2 ■Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

Early in the morning we will take a 1 hour uphill hike to the site of Machu Picchu (or for an extra cost you can take the shuttle bus in 30 mins) where we will embark on a 2 hours guided tour of the site. We will see the most important monuments like the Royal Quarters, the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Temple of the Three Windows, amongst others.

Once the guided tour has finished you will have time to explore the site by yourself until later in the afternoon when you will start walking back down to Aguas Calientes in time to catch the 21.50 train back to Ollantaytambo (you can also choose to return on an earlier train – please see options below).

From there we will board a private bus back to Cusco (dropoff near the main square).
